Why Should Experts Use Arya in Their Couple’s Therapy Practice: Q&A With Dr. Sara Nasserzadeh
Arya Advisor and a world-renowned social psychologist Dr. Sara Nasserzadeh is a huge supporter of Arya’s mission to improve couples’ relationships through erotic exploration and she believes Arya’s service can benefit therapists and couples they work with.

Arya: We know that trying new things together can strengthen the relationship. How does Arya’s product design help couples in that regard?
Dr. Sara: Arya was designed by couples for couples. Arya’s product design is light, fun, non-threatening, and diverse. In any given box the couple is presented with more than one option to choose from. They are also products that could be used in many different ways which allows for the creativity of the couple to shine through!
The fact that this is not a one-size-fits-all, helps the couple feel a sense of agency over designing their journey forward. When they are involved in that way, it is more likely that they would engage and enjoy the experience too. This is while they are being safeguarded by the concierge team that would make sure that the couple’s input is incorporated into the kit that they will receive.
Arya: Why would sex and relationship therapists benefit from recommending Arya to their clients?
Dr. Sara: All therapists share a wish: to offer the best and most efficient service to their clients. Talk therapy and the tools used within it such as sensate focus, empathic breathing, etc. can only go so far. Many of the providers are in constant search of different kits, tools, and resources for their clients that could be explored and experienced on their own time and to supplement the in-office work.
Arya: How does Arya enhance a practitioner’s work with clients?
Dr. Sara: Here is where Arya could be a critical addition to one’s work with couples; Arya offers the couple a sense of agency with their membership, they both need to consent to be active participants and willing to keep an open mind throughout their journey together. What the couple will receive through Arya can feed their sessions.
They can talk about what came up for them each when they went through a scenario with Arya, how they can engage in a more meaningful way with the props they receive, clarify the information they receive through the app with their provider and take the burden away from the provider to be the main responsible party to bring in new ideas and guide the couple through an intimate or erotic journey forward.
Arya: How does Arya make it easier for couples to deepen intimacy and eroticism in their relationship?
Dr. Sara: Let’s have a look at four of the main reasons couples find it hard to restart or deepen their intimate and erotic connections and how Arya can help:
If couples fall off track with their intimacy and eroticism due to life events that take over their lives for a while, Arya meets couples where they are, collects relevant information from each party, and then creates a roadmap for the couple to ease them back into their intimate and/or erotic connection. It helps the couples put one step in front of the other and tailors their journey based on the feedback they provide along the way so the couple does not need to be on top of thinking ahead and can let go of the anxiety of “what if we fall off the track again!”. Niki Davis-Fainbloom is a New York–based sex educator, researcher, and coach. Her work uses up-to-date research, humor, and practical advice to assist people in developing the skills needed for healthier and more satisfying relationships. Since earning her master’s degree from NYU, she has facilitated more than 500 sexual education workshops at locations including Planned Parenthood, New York University, and the United Nations.

Head of Relationship Science at Arya
Nicholas Velotta spends his days at the University of Washington in Seattle researching the intersection of intimacy and eroticism. He instructs students in courses like Sociology of Sexuality, Psychology of Human Sexuality, and Intimate Relationships. He has received multiple teaching rewards from the University of Washington in Seattle and is a 2-time recipient of the Pepper Schwartz Fellowship in Human Sexuality.

Dr. Nazanin Moali is a sex and relationship expert and has helped many individuals and couples improve their sex lives and restore and achieve deep and passionate connections with their partners. Catherine is a sex and relationship coach who is passionate about helping people redefine their relationship to pleasure through self-discovery.
